Wine Tasting- Confetti Pink Moscato- 2/17/2022
Wine Tasting! Hello and Welcome back to D. Wade's Wine Blog. Last night I had the opportunity to go to one of the finest establishments in all of the Blacksburg/Christiansburg area.... Olive Garden!! I went with a bunch of friends, some of whom are also taking this course.
The wine that we all decided to try was a Pink Moscato by Confetti that was $15. The wine was from Trentino Italy with a vintage year that was undisclosed. Since Moscato is made from Muscat Blanc grapes, I knew the flavor was going to have some sweetness to it.
The wine review on drizly.com states that this wine is supposed to have scents of strawberry, raspberry and peach. The review also mentioned that the wine would be creamy, well-balanced, sweet with an additional hint of citrus.
When I tried the Confetti Pink Moscato, I first picked up fruity smells with a bit of peach to be more specific. When I tasted the wine I felt a sensation as if the wine was carbonated like a sparkling wine, although it wasn't. Additionally, I picked up the peach and fruity flavors like the review hinted but also detected some cherry flavor as well. Overall I think that this was a solid wine although it was a tad more sweet than I'd like. In terms of complexity, I would say the wine was simple (pg.32) since it did not have a multitude of flavors. I will say the length of the wine was impressive since it was so sweet that the after taste lasted at least 7 seconds after swallowing (pg.32). Regarding aroma, I picked up mostly tree fruit smells such as peach and pear (pg.31). If I were to rate this wine I would give it a 7/10 since it was not really my cup-of-tea but it was in fact a solid wine and had the word "Sweet" on the label so I cannot complain too much.
As usual, my favorite part of the evening was the company and being able to enjoy a nice meal with some solid wine alongside my good friends.
Thanks again for coming with me on my journey.
Cheers!
-Dan
